Musical Future Talent

We are delighted to announce the start of our new collaboration with music charity Future Talent. From now until April 17th 2024, gifted young brass players aged 16 to 18 from low-income backgrounds will be able to apply online for one of two annual teamArchie Awards. Each award will provide essential financial support of £2,000 per year to cover music-related expenses, and a tailored development programme incorporating workshops, masterclasses, performance/recording opportunities and one-to-one mentoring with international trumpet soloist, and teamArchie ambassador, Matilda Lloyd.

Unlike his world renowned cousin, Archie was never going to be a professional trumpeter, but he enjoyed learning and music making with his peers. The aim of this new award is to showcase the transformative power of music education and the lifelong benefits it brings. Our charity partner, Future Talent, is dedicated to unlocking the potential of gifted young musicians from low-income backgrounds. These special awards are part of Future Talent's wider programmes which aim to break down barriers and amplify opportunities for young musicians of all genres. Both charities share the aspiration that through this support the award holders will have the potential to inspire and motivate other young people from backgrounds underrepresented in the musical world.

We invite passionate young brass players to seize this opportunity and apply for the teamArchie Future Talent Award for Brass, marking the beginning of a journey that could shape their musical future.

Applications for Future Talent’s programmes including the teamArchie awards for brass opened on 14th February and can be made via the Future Talent website. The first award holders will be announced in September 2024 and we hope to hear from them in our next Christmas Concert in December.
