teamArchie’s Great Escape

teamArchie’s Great Escape took place in early August at Great Hagley Estate in Shropshire led by our inspirational Ambassador George Bullard.

Our group of enthusiastic young people from The Eastside Young Leaders’ Academy took part in a multitude of activities under the guidance and leadership of George. Some of their activities included:

  • Top 10 command tasks – Teams have to work together within set parameters to complete each task. Go over the time limit or make mistakes and large penalties will be handed out to the team

  • A talent contest

  • Zip line & tiger challenge

  • Shelter Building

  • The Great Escape Challenge – Teams have to navigate their way through 8 checkpoints. Completing challenges and working out clues in order to get to the next check point. Checkpoint tasks included rafting, tyrolean traverse, treasure dig and more.

  • Prison break & escape and evasion

  • Dodgeball & floating islands

All of these activities combined with the time away from home really pushed the participants out of their comfort zones. They were all so positive and threw themselves into every challenge, even if a little apprehensive to start with. This is something we are extremely proud of and applaud their brilliant attitudes.

This is to be an annual programme for the brilliant young leaders at EYLA and we have selected some of this year’s stars to join us on the staff for the next episode. This will require them to do presentations and talks to other potential participants.

A special thanks to the Buffini Chao Foundation for their support and for introducing us to the amazing participants.
