First Story 2021 Virtual Residential

On Friday 30th July, we once again enjoyed a showcase from the participants of the First Story Summer Residential. Sixteen budding writers came together online for a week to produce some seriously impressive pieces.

This was the second year that First Story took what is normally an in-person residential in Arvon, online. This week of writing culminated in a Zoom showcase to parents, First Story staff and teamArchie trustees. Instead of intimidating the young people, having a big audience full of chat box praise and emoji Zoom-applause seemed to provide them with an adrenalin-fueled ego boost: the perfect denouement to a brilliant week!

We have also had some wonderful news that one of our previous participants, Emily, has just succeeded in getting a place at Christ’s College, Cambridge, to read English. What an incredible achievement!
